Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has disclosed his intention to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing a commitment to enhancing the welfare of his people.
During a cultural event held in Jimeta, Adamawa State on Saturday, Kefas explained that his planned defection is driven by the desire to promote the interests of the Taraba populace.
The event, named ‘Civic Reception: Unveiling of Margi National Attire’, was organized by the Margi tribe to celebrate their culture and introduce a national attire for its members.
The occasion was graced by three governors from the Peoples Democratic Party and various dignitaries.
According to DAILY POST, Kefas announced on Tuesday the postponement of his formal defection to the APC, initially slated for Wednesday, November 19, 2025, due to the recent abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
Addressing attendees at the event, Kefas reiterated that his decision aligns with the interests of Taraba State’s citizens.
“This is an event where all Margi nations come together to reflect on their past, present, and future,” Kefas stated.
“This is not a political gathering. Governor (Ahmadu) Fintiri is a true Margi son. He is a unifying factor, and I have enjoyed our neighbourhood and brotherhood.
“The only reason why we have disagreements is because I decided to move to the All Progressives Congress. But I know that at the end of the day, he will reason with me that my decision is in the interest of my people. I wish you all the best,” he concluded.
