Tanzania head coach Manuel Gomandi has praised his players despite their narrow 2-1 loss to Nigeria’s Super Eagles in an international friendly played in Fès.

The Taifa Stars put up a resilient performance, testing Nigeria’s defence and showing strong organisation throughout the match. Nigeria took the lead in the 36th minute through Semi Ajayi, who headed home Alex Iwobi’s cross. Tanzania responded after the break when Kokola M’mombwa levelled in the 50th minute.

However, Ademola Lookman restored Nigeria’s lead just two minutes later with a well-taken strike. Gomandi admitted his team’s lapse from a corner but commended their courage and discipline against a top African side. Tanzania will now turn attention to their next clash against regional rivals Uganda on Saturday.
