Former Jigawa State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Sule Lamido, has strongly criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of worsening Nigeria’s economic woes and plunging citizens into deeper hardship.
Speaking on Sunday at an expanded PDP caucus meeting in Dutse, Lamido said both former President Muhammadu Buhari and current President Bola Tinubu had betrayed Nigerians’ hopes and left the country in despair.
“Since Buhari and now Tinubu, Nigerians are suffering. Poverty is everywhere, youths are jobless, and the economy is collapsing,” Lamido lamented.
He accused APC leaders of being self-serving rather than patriotic, insisting that their policies have only worsened hunger and unemployment.
Lamido, who traced his political journey to the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) struggles of 1979, emphasized the need for political leadership anchored on integrity, justice, and sacrifice, not selfish ambition.
He called on PDP members to remain committed to fairness, avoid divisive politics, and present themselves as a credible alternative to Nigerians weary of APC governance.
“Our duty is to offer hope, solutions, and a path for Nigerians tired of hardship. PDP must continue to be the party that stands for the people,” he said.
The former governor stressed that PDP’s focus must be on job creation, poverty reduction, and service-oriented leadership, not luxury or self-enrichment.
“Every day, more Nigerians struggle to put food on their tables. This is not leadership; it is neglect. PDP will bring a government that listens and acts,” Lamido concluded.
