Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has openly criticised what she described as unhealthy attitudes among some movie industry colleagues, urging them to embrace support over envy.
In a post shared on Instagram, the actress identified two troubling groups within Nollywood. First, she called out actors who appear in films but frustrate producers by refusing to participate in promotions, describing such behaviour as unkind and unprofessional.
Secondly, Okeowo condemned colleagues who are unwilling to support others, noting that she has promoted several movies she did not feature in because, according to her, encouragement costs nothing.
The actress said envy and hatred have made some practitioners see others’ progress as a threat rather than motivation. She, however, appreciated colleagues who show up willingly and consistently support one another, stressing that the industry is big enough for everyone to succeed.
