“South West Governors Roll Out New Security Plan After Ibadan Meeting”

The South West Governors’ Forum—comprising Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo—met in Ibadan on Monday, 24th November 2025, where they unveiled sweeping decisions on security, agriculture, and regional development.

The Forum praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his security efforts and economic reforms, expressing solidarity with the Federal Government after recent kidnappings in Niger, Kwara, and Kebbi States. The governors applauded the swift rescue operations that followed the attacks.

Key resolutions include the creation of a South West Security Fund under the DAWN Commission, a real-time intelligence-sharing digital platform, and an urgent call for enhanced forest surveillance with Federal-backed Forest Guards.

The governors also raised alarm over unregulated interstate migration, escalating illegal mining, and reaffirmed that state police can no longer be delayed. They commended farmers for increasing food output and acknowledged Federal backing on food security initiatives.

They further applauded the establishment of the South West Development Commission and encouraged the region to remain united, peaceful, and committed to religious tolerance.
