Soludo Unveils 489-Member Mega Campaign Council Ahead of Explosive Anambra Governorship Election

As the countdown to the November 8 Anambra governorship election gathers steam, Governor Charles Soludo has officially inaugurated a 489-member Governorship Election Campaign Council.

Speaking via his official X handle, Soludo said the council was carefully selected to spread his vision of progress and development across all parts of Anambra State.

“This is a campaign council made up of carefully chosen 489 members. This team will help spread our vision for Anambra’s future and ensure our message of progress and development reaches every corner of our great state,” he declared.

The governor paid tribute to members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), adding that despite past challenges, the party remained stronger than ever.

“This campaign council of 489 members represents a movement within Anambra’s 8.5 million people. As members, you are all apostles of this mission,” he added, urging the council to work collectively for victory at the polls.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that 16 political parties will participate in the Anambra governorship election. Out of these, two parties — the African Action Congress (AAC) and the National Rescue Movement (NRM) — nominated female governorship candidates, while six others fielded women as deputy governorship candidates.

INEC also revealed a record-breaking voter registration update, with 168,187 new voters registered during the July Continuous Voter Registration exercise — the highest within a two-week period since its launch in 2017.

With APGA positioning itself for a massive statewide campaign and opposition parties gearing up for battle, November’s poll is shaping up to be one of the most fiercely contested elections in Anambra’s political history.
