Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has filed a criminal complaint at the Chief Magistrate Court of Kaduna State against two Facebook users, George Udom and Bello Isiaka, over alleged death threats and defamatory posts.
Filed on December 24, 2025, under suit number KMD/685/25, the complaint claims the defendants falsely attributed a statement to Gumi threatening the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, and his family in Zangon Kataf. Sheikh Gumi, known for advocating peaceful dialogue, denied the claims, describing the posts as malicious, false, and capable of inciting hatred and violence.
Through his lawyer, Suleiman Danlami Lere, Esq., Gumi stressed that the publications endanger his life, damage his reputation, and portray him as a threat to national security. The case cites relevant provisions of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017, which could see the defendants prosecuted if found guilty.
