Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has applauded the contributions of the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, following his removal by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Sani said the people of Kaduna are proud of Gen. Musa’s accomplishments during his tenure as CDS, adding that his leadership was commendable.
“Periodic changes in the leadership structure of our security services are essential in order to achieve results. The lack of courage to do this in the past is partly attributed to the failures of the nation’s battle against insecurity.
For us in Kaduna, we appreciate the service and stewardship of the outgoing CDS, General Musa. We are proud of his accomplishments. We wish him well in his future endeavours,” Sani wrote.
President Tinubu had earlier approved a major shake-up in the military hierarchy, appointing General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing Musa.
Other appointments include Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff, while Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The Presidency said the reshuffle aims to “further strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture and enhance operational effectiveness.”
