The son of Nigeria’s President, Seyi Tinubu, has publicly denied claims that he donated ₦20 million to Nollywood actress Sarah Martins’ Golden Heart Foundation.
In a statement shared via his Instagram Story on Friday, Seyi clarified that although some of his friends raised funds to help a woman recently penalised for breaching Lagos State environmental laws, he personally made no financial contribution.
According to him, the donors acted purely out of compassion and empathy, aiming to help the woman relocate her business to a legal location — not to undermine the law.
“Their intention, I believe, was to help her secure a proper space to run her business, not to undermine the law. I appreciate their kindness and concern,” Seyi said.
He further emphasized his commitment to law and order, noting that Lagos thrives when citizens respect established regulations.
“While their hearts were in the right place, I do not support any act that violates the laws of Lagos State. Lagos thrives on order, and Nigeria’s strength depends on our collective respect for both law and order,” he added.
Seyi’s clarification followed reports by Sarah Martins, who had claimed that he donated ₦20 million to her charity organisation after she was allegedly harassed by Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps officials for cooking food for charity on a street median in Lekki, Lagos.
The incident sparked online conversations around public charity activities, government enforcement, and celebrity influence, prompting Seyi Tinubu’s statement to set the record straight.
