The office of embattled Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has finally been unsealed by the National Assembly. This significant development follows months of tension after her suspension from the Senate.
The unsealing was conducted by the Sergeant at Arms of the National Assembly, with assistance from combined security personnel. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had been barred from her office since March 2025, when the Senate imposed a six-month suspension on her due to alleged misconduct after protesting the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20, 2025.
Although her suspension concluded in September 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan has faced challenges in resuming her legislative duties due to ongoing legal matters and opposition from Senate leadership. A week prior to the unsealing, she formally notified the upper chamber of her intention to return to work following the completion of her suspension, but her request was initially rejected.
The unsealing of her office signals a potential return of the embattled senator to her active duties.
