Security Fears Rise as Kanu’s Lawyer Demands Relocation from North

Lead counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Aloy Ejimakor, has renewed calls for Nnamdi Kanu’s relocation from northern Nigeria, citing serious security concerns.

Ejimakor made the appeal following reports of a United States military strike on terrorist targets in Sokoto State, arguing that the development confirms the region’s vulnerability to terrorist activities. According to him, Sokoto was never a safe place to hold Kanu, given the security threats in the area.

He warned that the continued detention of Kanu within what he described as a “terrorist belt” poses grave risks to his safety, stressing that the situation has become more urgent due to recent security developments. Ejimakor urged Nigerian authorities to move Kanu to a safer facility outside northern Nigeria without delay.
