A member of the Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has urged the Federal Government to stop shutting down schools over rising insecurity, insisting that the focus should be on securing learning environments.
Speaking on Arise Television, Galadima described the closure of schools as embarrassing for the government and harmful to the future of young Nigerians. He advised the authorities to deploy advanced technology and create special response squads capable of detecting threats before they arise.
His remarks follow the Federal Government’s recent order directing the shutdown of 41 unity colleges due to a resurgence of student abductions. A statement from the Ministry of Education described the measure as a precaution to prevent further security breaches.
Galadima insisted that the real solution lies in strengthening school protection systems—not halting education.
