PHOTOS: Sanwo-Olu Received South Africa Opposition Leader Malema in Lagos

South African opposition leader, Julius Malema, paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday at the Lagos House, Marina.

Malema, who leads the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in South Africa, was warmly received by the governor, who later shared photos from the meeting on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the EFF, Malema is scheduled to deliver an address at the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual General Conference in Enugu on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Enugu State International Conference Centre.

The firebrand 44-year-old politician, known for his populist and controversial rhetoric, has remained a polarizing figure in South African politics. Earlier this year, he reaffirmed his intention to continue using liberation-era chants such as “Kill the Boer, kill the farmer”, despite strong opposition from groups representing white South Africans who consider the song inflammatory.

Malema’s visit to Nigeria comes at a time of heightened interest in his political activities, as he continues to attract both criticism and admiration for his outspoken stance against racial and economic inequalities in South Africa.
