Fubara’s Absence Sparks Reactions
Meanwhile, the absence of suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara during the elections has raised concerns.
According to Daily Post, Fubara’s close allies — including his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo — were also absent from their polling units.
Additionally, the 23 former LG chairmen earlier sacked by the Supreme Court also boycotted the exercise.
A loyalist explained their decision:
“We knew the winners before the election started. So why waste our time? The governor is currently outside the country and expected to return next month. Everything happening is tied to the political agreement reached between Wike and Fubara in the presence of the President.”
The development has deepened political tension in Rivers State, leaving citizens divided on the legitimacy of the process.
