Rivers Power Play: Wike Battling for Political Survival — APC Chieftain

An APC chieftain in Rivers State, Emeka Bekee, has described the ongoing political moves of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as a fight for survival. Bekee made the remark on Wednesday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, amid the intensifying rivalry between Wike and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

According to Bekee, Wike’s current actions are driven by self-preservation rather than influence, insisting the former governor is struggling to retain relevance within the state’s political structure. He noted that the power tussle has reshaped Rivers politics and exposed deeper internal realignments.

Bekee also hinted that governors who recently defected to the APC may be granted automatic tickets for second terms in 2027. He stressed that if such a decision is taken by the party’s national leadership, Governor Fubara would not be excluded, adding that no one can deny him his political rights.
