Rivers 2027: Pearse Says Tinubu Should Align With Fubara, Not Wike

As the 2027 general elections approach, political tensions in Rivers State are intensifying. Lagos PDP chieftain Adetokunbo Pearse has advised that President Bola Tinubu should work with Governor Siminalayi Fubara rather than FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to secure political leverage in the state.

Pearse argued that while Wike supports APC, his influence in Rivers is limited, as the electorate remains largely loyal to PDP. Fubara, recently defected to APC, commands grassroots support and controls state resources, making him a strategic ally for Tinubu.

According to Pearse, Wike’s ongoing interference and attempts to manipulate state politics have rendered him a liability. He predicts that the APC will struggle to win Rivers State in 2027 regardless of alliances, stressing that the electorate’s PDP loyalty will determine the outcome. Pearse concluded that Tinubu’s best option, if seeking any foothold in Rivers, would be to partner with Fubara, not Wike, highlighting the deep political dilemma within APC ahead of the next polls.
