A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Adetokunbo Pearse, has alleged that the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State was manipulated in favour of President Bola Tinubu through the influence of former governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking in an interview, Pearse claimed the official results did not reflect voters’ choices, citing the dominance of PDP in senatorial, House of Representatives and state assembly seats across Rivers State. He questioned how the same electorate could then vote differently in the presidential election.
According to Pearse, the outcome was the result of alleged manipulation of the electoral process, accusing Wike of influencing INEC to tilt results in Tinubu’s favour, a move he claimed later earned political leverage at the federal level.
Pearse warned that the PDP would resist any attempt to repeat such actions in 2027, insisting the party would mobilise all lawful measures, including international scrutiny, to ensure credible elections and protect the will of the electorate.
