“Risking My Life for a Movie Role is Stupidity” – Stan Nze

Popular Nollywood actor Stan Nze has made a strong statement about the dangers of taking unnecessary risks on set, describing such actions as “stupidity.”

In a recent interview with The Nation, Nze explained that while acting requires dedication and authenticity, it would be reckless for an actor to put their life on the line just to stand out. He emphasized that dangerous stunts should be left to trained professionals who specialize in handling such tasks.

“Why would I risk my life jumping from a dangerous height in a movie? Jumping characters are done by stunt guys. That’s their job. They are called stunt actors who are well paid for such roles. They have the experience of how to jump and do other things,” he said.

Nze further pointed out that risking life for fame or recognition is not worth it.

“I’m not going to be foolish and jump a dangerous height just because I want to be the best actor in Africa, and the people go do one minute of silence and then move on — it is stupidity.”

The actor concluded by saying he prefers to stick to roles that align with his training, leaving high-risk stunts for professionals.

“I will only do the ones I’m meant to do, so that the stunt men can do their job too,” he added.

Nze’s stance sheds light on the importance of safety in Nollywood, reminding both actors and filmmakers that professionalism should never come at the expense of human life.
