A retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Kingsley Woke, has been confirmed as the victim of a deadly gun attack along Port Harcourt Road in Ngor Okpala LGA, Imo State. The Imo Police Command said the 56-year-old ex-senior officer was travelling from Port Harcourt to Umuahia when armed hoodlums opened fire on his vehicle around 11 p.m. on December 7 near Amala Autonomous Community.
Woke, who hailed from Ikwerre LGA in Rivers State and last served at the Police Staff College, Jos, was shot in the chest and died on the spot. His belongings were secured by the police and later released to his sister, Mrs. Hope, who identified him.
Security sources said tactical teams, vigilantes and hunters have intensified operations to track the killers and rescue other victims reportedly abducted during the attack. Authorities assured residents of ongoing efforts to secure the Ngor Okpala corridor.
