Reps Release Tinubu Tax Reform Acts Amid Alteration Controversy

The House of Representatives has released the certified versions of four tax reform Acts signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following controversy over alleged alterations to Nigeria’s tax laws.

The decision came after concerns were raised during plenary about discrepancies between versions of the laws circulating publicly and those passed by the National Assembly. Acting jointly, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Senate President Godswill Akpabio ordered the immediate release of the Certified True Copies, including the endorsement and assent pages signed by the President.

The released laws are the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025, National Revenue Service (Establishment) Act 2025, and Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act 2025.

House spokesman Akin Rotimi said the move reflects the legislature’s commitment to transparency and public trust. The House also set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate how unauthorised versions emerged, assuring Nigerians that only the certified Acts represent the authentic law.
