Remo Stars’ Serge Obassa Makes Benin’s AFCON 2025 Provisional Squad

Remo Stars goalkeeper, Serge Obassa, has been named in Benin Republic’s 30-man provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Obassa, who has impressed since joining the Nigerian club this season, is listed alongside Saturnin Allagbe and Dandjinou Marcel as the Cheetahs prepare for the continental tournament.

Head coach Gernot Rohr retained several key players, including captain Steve Mounie, Mohamed Tijani, Djodel Dosou and Tosin Aiyegun. The squad will be trimmed to 25 ahead of their training camp in Ben Slimane, Morocco. Benin will compete in Group D against Senegal, DR Congo and Botswana.

Meanwhile, Barau FC coach, Ladan Bosso, praised supporters after their thrilling 3-2 victory over Kwara United. Despite defensive lapses, he applauded the fans’ energy and assured improvements ahead of their clash with El-Kanemi Warriors.
