Prince Emmanuel Kanu, younger brother of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has issued a strong warning to those celebrating and mocking his brother’s conviction.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Emmanuel described the life sentence handed to Nnamdi Kanu as unjust, declaring that those responsible would eventually face an inevitable reckoning. He said the current celebrations in some quarters would be short-lived, stressing that history and justice have a way of responding to oppression.
His reaction follows the November 20, 2025 judgment delivered by Justice James Omotosho, which sentenced the IPOB leader to life imprisonment on terrorism-related charges. The ruling has continued to generate intense debate across Nigeria, with supporters condemning it and critics defending the court’s decision.
Prince Emmanuel urged the public to reflect deeply on the implications of the judgment, warning that actions taken today would be remembered tomorrow.
He said, “Those praising evil and illegitimately targeting Mazi Nnamdi Kanu through mockery and imprisonment will soon face inevitable reckoning.
“The same collective effort used to wrongfully convict Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be their undoing. Their bases will fracture and implode, visible to the world.”
He warned that those who weaponised the law for political ends would not escape the consequences.
“Anyone attempting to exploit laws to imprison you will instead face merciless justice. Their schemes will backfire, and they will fall prey to the very pit they created, ensnared by superior laws,” he added.
