President Tinubu Attends Church Service in Jos

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Saturday, attended a church service at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Jos, Plateau State, to honour the funeral of Nana Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nantewe Yilwatda Goshwe.

The solemn event drew several dignitaries, reflecting the deep respect and support for Prof. Goshwe and his family. Tinubu, a Muslim from Lagos State, was accompanied by top government officials and party members to pay his last respects.

Interestingly, despite being a devout Muslim, President Tinubu’s presence at the Christian funeral highlights his history of religious tolerance and inclusivity. His wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is a devoted Christian and an ordained Assistant Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Tinubu’s interfaith marriage has often been a point of public interest, especially after his controversial decision to run a Muslim-Muslim ticket during the 2023 presidential election—a move that attracted mixed reactions across the country.

Nevertheless, his appearance at the COCIN service demonstrates a gesture of unity and respect across religious lines, reinforcing his administration’s message of national cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
