Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again stirred public debate after openly declaring that he is willing to sell his vote in the 2027 general elections.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, the singer asked fans if they had collected their voter’s card while stressing that he would support whichever politician or party pays him first.
Portable bluntly stated:
“Anybody wey give me money na who I go follow. Anybody wey fit help our life. If APC brings money first, APC owns me. If PDP brings money first, I will collect. Even if it’s Peter Obi that pays first, I’ll tell my fans to follow him; to vote for him. Vote for anybody wey you like, vote for your helper, vote for who give you money.”
The controversial artiste further encouraged his followers to sell their votes, sparking backlash online with many accusing him of undermining the democratic process.
Meanwhile, Portable’s partner, Omobolarinde Akinyanju, better known as Ashabi Simple, shared a deeply emotional message on her Instagram page the same day.
Ashabi, a Nollywood actress and mother of two of Portable’s children, spoke about the fragility of life and her devotion to the singer. She expressed that every moment with Portable feels like a gift but admitted she has been feeling weak and tired.
In her heartfelt post, she pleaded with God not to allow untimely death to separate them, calling Portable her “love” and describing him as a man full of grace.
The contrasting posts from the couple have since triggered mixed reactions on social media, with Portable being criticized for promoting vote trading while Ashabi draws sympathy from fans concerned about her health and emotions.
