Police Smash Major Drug Syndicate in Jigawa, Recover Over 23,000 Illicit Substances

The Jigawa State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its war against drug trafficking with the arrest of three notorious drug dealers and the recovery of more than 23,000 illicit drugs in a series of coordinated operations across Garki, Fagam, and Maigatari divisions.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, said the raids — conducted on October 18, 2025 — were part of the Command’s intelligence-led drive to dismantle drug networks operating within and outside the state.

According to him, a total of 23,944 assorted illicit substances were seized, including 13,505 Exol tablets, 1,583 D5, 3,572 Tramadol, 565 Diazepam, 2,469 Rubber Solution, 886 wraps and blocks of cannabis (Indian hemp), Sock and Die, Akurkura, 340 Farin Malam, and several other intoxicating substances.

SP Shiisu described the operation as “one of the largest anti-drug crackdowns in recent times” and reaffirmed the police’s determination to combat drug abuse, particularly among the youth.

He revealed that the suspects, who had long been on the police watchlist, are now in custody and undergoing intensive investigation. “They will be charged to court once preliminary investigations are completed,” he confirmed.

Commending the officers for their bravery, the Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking and abuse, urging residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information on criminal activities.

“The Jigawa State Police Command remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives and promote peace through proactive, intelligence-driven operations,” the statement concluded.
