The Osun State Police Command has launched a full investigation into a violent gang clash in Osogbo that claimed the life of a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW.
The incident occurred on Sunday around the Orita-Elelede area, sparking fear among residents and forcing businesses to shut down temporarily. Eyewitnesses said the victim, Oyebamiji Quzeem, also known as Mosquito, was riding on a motorcycle with a companion when suspected gang members chased them.
The pursuit reportedly ended near Elelede Junction, where the attackers forced the men off their motorcycle and assaulted them with machetes. One of the victims died on the spot, while the other escaped with serious injuries.
Police confirmed that officers were deployed immediately and that investigations are ongoing. Security patrols have also been intensified around motor parks and other flashpoints to prevent further violence linked to the Osogbo gang violence.
