The Lagos State Police Command has detained social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a viral video that showed him driving recklessly while live on social media. According to the police, the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and resulted in a serious motor accident that endangered lives.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, described Peller’s actions as “suicidal” and a grave threat to public safety. She confirmed that the influencer has been arrested and is currently in detention.
The police disclosed that the case is under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). Upon completion of the probe, the outcome will be made public and the suspect will be charged to court. The Commissioner of Police also warned influencers against promoting reckless behaviour online.
