Peter Obi’s Aide Addresses LP’s Failure In Anambra Polls

Following the conclusion of the Anambra State governorship election, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has made a crucial clarification concerning his principal, Mr. Peter Obi. Tanko has asserted that the former presidential candidate was “not on the ballot” in the just-concluded poll.

This statement comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared incumbent Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner, having secured a total of 422,664 votes. The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr. George Moghalu, finished in fourth place with 10,576 votes.

Appearing as a guest on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time,’ Dr. Tanko, who also serves as a Media Aide to Peter Obi, explained the context of the result. He stated, “Peter Obi campaigned on the basis of being a Labour Party member. He did that to give George Moghalu the opportunity to present himself to the people. The candidate of Peter Obi was not on the ballot.”

Tanko further defended Obi’s political strength in his home state, recalling a past victory. “Let me say this. 17 years ago, the same Peter Obi ran elections with the incumbent governor, Soludo and former governor Chris Ngige, and he beat them. I can tell you that when you put Obi and such individuals on the ballot, he will still beat them,” he affirmed, signaling confidence in Obi’s enduring appeal among the electorat
