“Peter Obi Casts His Vote in Anambra, LP Candidate Raises Alarm Over ‘Aggressive’ Vote-Buying”

The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has fulfilled his civic duty by casting his vote in the ongoing Anambra State governorship election.

The former Anambra Governor arrived at his Polling Unit 019, Umudim Akasi Agulu 2, Ward 8, on Saturday, joining the queue and undergoing accreditation before casting his ballot. His presence drew significant attention from residents and observers monitoring the electoral process in his home community.

The election, which features 16 candidates aiming to unseat the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, has however been clouded by serious allegations of malpractice.

In a related development, the Labour Party’s own governorship candidate, George Moghalu, expressed deep concern over what he termed the “aggressive” monetization of the poll. Speaking to journalists at his residence in Nnewi, Moghalu lamented that vote-buying had resurfaced on a widespread scale despite the heavy security deployment.

“The situation is scandalous and very embarrassing,” Moghalu stated. “The issue of vote-buying is no more a speculation… This time around, I’ve been receiving reports of the same thing happening.”

This stark warning from a key contender casts a shadow over the electoral exercise, even as high-profile participation from figures like Peter Obi continues.
