Former presidential adviser, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has cast serious doubt on the ability of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to power in 2027, describing the party as politically broken and internally divided.
Speaking on Arise Television, Baba-Ahmed said the PDP has been on a steady decline since losing power in 2015, blaming its leadership for lacking the discipline and experience required to function as an opposition party. He noted that internal conflicts and repeated splits have weakened the party, creating opportunities for the ruling APC to attract its members.
While admitting that President Bola Tinubu deserves criticism in some areas, Baba-Ahmed stressed that the PDP’s biggest problem is self-inflicted, adding that other parties like the ADC may now offer more credible opposition.
