The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday formally issued expulsion certificates to 11 senior party figures, including Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike. The action follows earlier suspensions announced on November 15, affecting notable members such as ex-Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, Umar Bature, Kamaldeen Ajibade and former Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.
Others expelled include former Imo PDP chairman Austine Nwachukwu, former Abia PDP chairman Amah Nnanna Abraham, ex–South-South Vice Chairman Dan Orbih and Turnah George.
Briefing journalists in Abuja, the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee said the disciplinary move was necessary to reposition and rebuild the opposition party. The NWC insisted that enforcing internal order is essential to restoring credibility and strengthening the party’s future political relevance.
