Oyo Residents Beg Gov. Makinde To Rebuild Collapsed Elebu Road

Residents of Elebu community in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have called on Governor Seyi Makinde to urgently fulfill his promise to reconstruct the Elebu Road, which has become almost impassable.

According to findings by DAILY POST, the road — first constructed during the Abiola Ajimobi administration — now lies in terrible condition, especially along the Circular Road corridor, disrupting movement and economic activities.

One resident, Mr. Dolapo Ajao, lamented the poor state of the road, saying it has crippled daily life and forced many residents to relocate.

“We are facing a lot of challenges on this road, especially during the rainy season. The road is always impassable. Some people have abandoned their houses,” he said.

Another resident, Mrs. Iyabode Aina, recalled how community youths and the late NURTW Chairman, Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde, once helped by grading the road, but such efforts have since stopped.

“We tried to fill the road and reduce our hardship, but it’s beyond what we can handle as a community,” she added.

Mr. Kolade Adeoye urged Governor Makinde to remember his promise to fix the road during his visit to commission a nearby health centre.

“We are waiting for him to fulfill his promise before the next general elections,” he said.

Residents appealed to the Oyo State Government to begin the reconstruction without delay, stressing that the road’s current state has worsened living conditions and slowed business in the area.
