More than 1,500 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Zuru Emirate of Kebbi State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors were formally received in Birnin Kebbi by the APC state chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, who attributed the mass movement to the state government’s performance and ongoing infrastructural projects, particularly the Koko–Dabai–Zuru road.
Prominent among the defectors was former PDP House of Assembly candidate, Alhaji Lawali Riba, who said recent developments—especially the coordinated rescue of abducted schoolgirls in Maga—convinced many supporters to switch allegiance.
Another defector, Arzika Riba, urged some government aides to improve their performance, while two female defectors, Binta Bena and Hajiya Maryam, said the PDP had lost influence in the area.
