The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a hotel staff member in Akure for allegedly stealing a gold chain worth ₦11 million from a customer.
The suspect, identified as Temitope Ajayi, was employed at Dejavu Hotel, Alagbaka, Akure, and allegedly committed the theft on June 22, 2025. Following investigations, Ajayi was apprehended, and efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen jewellery.
Speaking at the state police headquarters over the weekend, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, also disclosed another case involving Gbenga Ojo, who allegedly stole a gold necklace worth ₦5.1 million and sold it for ₦3 million to Garuba Jubril. Both suspects are now in custody.
Highlighting the command’s achievements, CP Lawal noted that under the leadership of IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the police have intensified crime prevention, detection, and prosecution across Ondo State.
- He also revealed updates on other cases:Armed Robbery & Murder in Ondo Town: Three suspects — Adeife Adewumi, Matthew Johnson, and Diisu Sunday — confessed to killing a 25-year-old motorcyclist, Nwike Sabbat, and stealing his motorcycle. Weapons, including locally made guns and cartridges, were recovered. An alleged arms supplier, Chief Kogbona (87 years), was also arrested.
- Cultism in Owo: On August 27, 2025, two suspected cultists, Adams Precious (25 years) and Kayode Alana (26 years), were arrested in the Isuada community, bringing relief to residents.
