ife coach and social commentator Solomon Buchi has ignited a heated online debate after skit maker Maraji reacted to a video highlighting men’s emotional struggles during their wives’ pregnancies.
In the viral clip shared by Buchi, a man spoke about the mental stress, sleepless nights, and emotional pressure men experience while supporting their pregnant wives — noting that pregnancy affects both partners.
Maraji, however, disagreed, arguing that women bear the real burden, from hormonal shifts to depression. “Why should anyone care about you,” she asked, “when you’re supposed to be the support system to your wife?”
Defending the man’s position, Buchi stated that the man did not compare or invalidate his wife’s pain but simply expressed that men’s emotions during pregnancy also matter.
“It’s possible to fulfill your obligations and still feel tired or lonely,” Buchi said. “The fear and anxiety of losing a loved one can cause sleeplessness too.”
He added that both men and women should be allowed to express their feelings without guilt, as understanding each other’s struggles deepens intimacy.
The exchange has since stirred strong reactions online, with many debating whether men’s emotional experiences during pregnancy deserve equal attention.
