Ojulari Steadies NNPC as Oil Theft Losses Drop Sharply in 2025

Nigeria’s long battle with crude oil theft is witnessing a rare moment of stability under the leadership of NNPC Limited Group CEO, Bayo Ojulari. Eight months into his tenure, Ojulari has focused on consolidating existing security gains rather than introducing disruptive changes.

Under his watch, NNPC has recorded near-100 per cent availability across major crude oil pipelines, including Trans Niger, Trans Forcados, Trans Escravos and Trans Ramos. This marks a sharp turnaround from 2022, when widespread theft crippled exports and drained billions from national revenue.

Industry observers attribute the progress to tighter coordination, stronger accountability and the integration of pipeline security into NNPC’s commercial performance metrics. By treating crude protection as a business priority and sustaining collaboration with security agencies, contractors and host communities, Ojulari is helping to stabilise Nigeria’s oil sector and restore investor confidence.
