Nollywood Star Stanley Ontop Alleges NAPTIP Involvement in Child Trafficking Scandal

A fresh wave of outrage has hit social media after popular Nollywood actor and activist, Stanley Ontop, accused the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) of allegedly trafficking children from Delta State to Kano.

In a series of posts on his Instagram page on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Ontop claimed that some NAPTIP officials stormed Happy Home Orphanage in Asaba on Sunday, June 15, and took away eight children aged between 13 and 17 years without proper documentation.

“Some group of notorious NAPTIP officials from Kano invaded an orphanage here in Asaba and carted away eight children. The government, women affairs, the SSAs, and the First Lady have not said anything about it. It’s only we, the activists, who are speaking for Delta State.

They pack eight children and take them to the north, change their names to Muslim names, force them to go to the mosque and read the Qur’an. If they decline, they will flog them like an illegal refugee and nothing has happened? Really? Omg,” he wrote.

Orphanage Chairman Confirms Incident

In a viral video circulating online, Christopher Nwokoye, the Chairman of Happy Home Orphanage, corroborated the incident, raising further alarm.

He revealed that he was not at home when the alleged officials arrived but later found a note purportedly left behind by the group.

“When I checked the small paper that was left behind by NAPTIP officials, I saw ‘NAPTIP officials Oka.’ I rushed to D Division, their DCO, but he said no men were sent to the orphanage.

On Monday morning, I went to NAPTIP’s office at the Federal Secretariat in Oka, and their head of duties, after seeing the note, told me it was not from them — that it was from Kano,” Nwokoye explained.

Below is one of his posts on the allegation.

Authorities Silent, Tension Grows in Delta State

As of press time, relevant authorities have not issued any response to the allegations, fueling concerns among residents and activists.

Civil rights groups have begun demanding immediate clarification from NAPTIP headquarters, the Ministry of Women Affairs, and security agencies to prevent what they describe as “a possible human trafficking scandal under the guise of official operations.”

The development has sparked nationwide debate, with many Nigerians calling for an independent investigation to determine whether the alleged abduction of children was sanctioned or carried out by rogue operatives.
