A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread debate after revealing how her husband, who resides abroad, installed CCTV cameras across their home, leaving her feeling “trapped and constantly monitored.”
In a viral video circulating on social media, the married woman disclosed that the surveillance system — fitted with two-way audio — denies her any privacy, even in the kitchen and bedroom.
She narrated how attempts to make TikTok videos in the compound were interrupted when her husband, monitoring her remotely, spoke directly through the device, calling out to her in real time.
According to her, the intrusive monitoring has become unbearable, forcing her to regret her marriage decision. She cautioned young women against marrying men abroad, insisting that long-distance unions breed distrust and surveillance.
“No marry man wey dey abroad. I don tire, Chineke,” she said in Pidgin, emphasising her exhaustion with the constant surveillance.
