Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has warned the Federal Government against using military force to suppress agitations across the country.
In a statement on Saturday titled “Boko Haram: An Invented Name and the Unlearned Lessons of History,” Ejiofor said no nation achieves peace through violence, urging the government to embrace dialogue, empathy, and reconciliation.
He referred to Bishop Matthew Kukah’s remarks describing Boko Haram as a “psychological weapon of fear,” and former President Goodluck Jonathan’s claim that dialogue—not force—ended the Niger Delta crisis.
Ejiofor said the proscription of IPOB between 2015 and 2017 deepened mistrust and conflict instead of bringing peace. He urged the government to learn from history and choose understanding over suppression.
