A Nigerian entrepreneur, Roberta Edu, has stirred social media reactions after declaring that Nigerian men are bigger gold diggers than women.
In a Facebook post, the CEO of Moppet Foods revealed that, despite being married with children, she constantly receives romantic advances from younger men who are drawn to her financial success.
Roberta shared a screenshot of a message she received from a young admirer who professed love to her, promising to be her “hubby and friend.”
According to her, many Nigerian men who publicly claim they can’t date older women or single mothers only hold that opinion until they meet a wealthy one.
“Nobody digs gold more than a Nigerian man. They just don’t want broke older women or broke single mothers,” she wrote.
She added that financial independence changes the game for women, as wealth attracts attention — even from married men.
“If you’re a woman in Nigeria and you have money, just watch — young guys in their 30s will flood in, proposing marriage left and right. Many are already married to richer women in their 40s. Don’t let anyone tell you that you won’t find love; just make your money,” she advised.
The post has since gone viral, sparking heated debates across social media about gender roles, love, and financial power dynamics in Nigerian relationships.
