Nigerian Army Crushes Terror Cells, 150 Terrorists Neutralised in Kwara

Troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army have recorded a major breakthrough in Kwara State, reportedly neutralising about 150 terrorists operating from forest hideouts across the state.

The coordinated operation was carried out under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, led by the General Officer Commanding, Major General Chinedu Nnebife, alongside Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, Commander of the 22 Brigade. The troops worked in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

According to the Army, sustained fighting patrols were launched into multiple terrorist enclaves, resulting in heavy losses for the criminals. Several camps and logistics bases were destroyed, while fleeing terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds. Notorious bandit strongholds, including Garin Dandi in Ifelodun LGA, were cleared, crippling supply and support networks.

Despite difficult terrain, troops maintained an aggressive posture, blocked escape routes, arrested suspected collaborators, and rescued several kidnap victims. The Army also noted community-based collaborators aiding terrorists with intelligence.

The operation underscores the military’s resolve to dismantle terror networks and restore lasting peace in Kwara State.
