The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a major victory in the fight against insurgency after neutralizing more than 30 terrorists in Borno State during a joint operation with ground troops.
The offensive targeted insurgents in Dar-El-Jamal village, Bama Local Government Area, following intelligence reports of clashes between terrorists and security forces.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, confirmed the operation in a statement on Friday.
He revealed that the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai deployed Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets alongside precision airstrikes.
“Aircrews identified fleeing terrorists and executed three decisive strikes, killing over 30 insurgents,” Ejodame said.
Reinforcement troops were later deployed to secure the area, ensuring no further threat.
Ejodame hailed the operation as proof of the effectiveness of joint air-ground missions, stressing that the safety of civilians remains the military’s top priority.
“This success underscores the importance of coordinated synergy in restoring peace to vulnerable communities,” he added.
Borno and other parts of the North East remain flashpoints for Boko Haram and ISWAP attacks, which have left tens of thousands dead and displaced millions.
The military has ramped up its offensive since 2021 under Operation Hadin Kai, reclaiming several towns and disrupting insurgent operations across Bama, Konduga, and Marte.
Ejodame, however, cautioned that sporadic attacks persist: “While we celebrate this victory, the mission is far from over. We remain committed to protecting lives and property across the region.”
