Nigeria Now Under Civilian Dictatorship” — Dele Momodu Blasts Tinubu, Predicts 2027 North-South Political War

Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of steering Nigeria into what he described as a “civilian dictatorship.”

In a strongly worded post on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Momodu stressed that silencing dissent and opposing voices poses a grave threat to Nigeria’s democracy.

He wrote:

“I stand gidigba by my opinion that what we have now is civilian dictatorship. Constructive criticism is not meant only for political opponents but for all leaders… I place Nigeria above other considerations.”

Momodu condemned the intolerance of opposing views and recalled how some of Tinubu’s current loyalists once used harsh and insulting words against him before switching allegiance.

Meanwhile, in another post on Sunday, the Ovation publisher stirred debate by declaring that the 2027 general election has already taken shape as a regional war between the North and South.

According to him, while President Tinubu enjoys incumbency advantage in the South, the North can no longer be persuaded or “blackmailed” into supporting the South after what he described as the treatment meted out following the last election.

“Fame alone cannot win 2027. Nobody is more famous than Tinubu and Atiku. But the battle lines are clear — the South will support the South, and the North will stand its ground,” Momodu warned.
