NDIC Approves N24.3bn Second Payout for Heritage Bank Depositors

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has announced a second liquidation dividend of ₦24.3 billion for depositors of the defunct Heritage Bank Limited.

The payment targets depositors whose balances exceeded the insured limit of ₦5 million when the bank’s licence was revoked by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on June 3, 2024. According to NDIC, eligible uninsured depositors will receive 5.2 kobo per ₦1 on their outstanding balances.

This brings the total liquidation dividend paid so far to 14.4 kobo per ₦1, following an earlier ₦46.6 billion payout made in April 2025. NDIC explained that the new tranche was made possible through debt recoveries, asset sales, and investment realisations.

Payments will be credited automatically to depositors’ alternative bank accounts linked to their BVN, while others are advised to regularise their claims.
