Nathaniel Bassey Opens Up on Wife’s Five Miscarriages, Shares Emotional Hallelujah Challenge Experience

Popular gospel artist and “Imela” crooner, Nathaniel Bassey, has shared a deeply emotional story about his wife, Sarah Bassey, revealing that she went through five miscarriages during the years of their marriage. The revelation came during the ongoing Hallelujah Challenge on Friday, where the singer reflected on his journey of faith amid trials.

Bassey disclosed that despite the painful losses, he continued to lead powerful worship sessions online, often leaving the hospital where his wife was being treated. He recalled one instance when she suffered an ectopic pregnancy, yet he still went live for the Hallelujah Challenge.

“There were times when we had a miscarriage during the Hallelujah Challenge; nobody knew. I would still come to praise and dance,” he said emotionally. “Some years ago, she was on a hospital bed, and I would go lead worship, then return. The nurses even said, ‘Tonight’s praise was powerful.’ Not once, not twice—five times.”

Reflecting on their resilience, Bassey affirmed that their story is a testament to God’s faithfulness.

“So when people ask, ‘Where is God?’ I say, I understand. God is faithful. One of His words to us is: don’t give up on God,” he added.

Bassey also shared a lighter moment, revealing how someone received the same encouraging message—“Don’t give up”—from a fortune cookie at a Chinese restaurant.
