Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Return To Senate Loom After Explosive 6-Month Suspension Drama

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has officially completed her six-month suspension, paving the way for her dramatic return to plenary after a turbulent political showdown.

The lawmaker was suspended on March 6, 2025, and barred from legislative duties, entry into the National Assembly, and access to official resources, following accusations of breaching Senate rules.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, however, repeatedly dismissed the sanction as politically motivated, maintaining that it was triggered by her petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment — a claim that ignited heated debates nationwide.

Her suspension became a flashpoint in July when she stormed the National Assembly complex with her lawyers, brandishing a court judgment she claimed mandated her recall. The move drew massive public attention and intensified pressure on Senate leadership.

Now that the suspension has expired, all eyes are on her re-entry into the chamber and how lingering tensions with the Senate leadership will shape the political atmosphere in the weeks ahead.
