A university don, Professor Barnabas Embugus-Barde of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has called on federal and state governments to enact laws that promote the ethical use of modern technologies, warning that businesses that fail to embrace digital tools risk becoming irrelevant.
Speaking during the university’s 56th Inaugural Lecture titled “Business Administration in the Digital Age: Navigate the Impact of Business, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Data Analysis and Entrepreneurship (BARDE)”, he urged business owners to invest aggressively in digital solutions to improve performance, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
Prof. Embugus-Barde noted that organisations must adopt emerging technologies and train their workforce to remain competitive as Artificial Intelligence and robotics rapidly reshape global labour markets. While highlighting benefits such as improved decision-making, revenue generation, and data-driven innovation, he cautioned that increased automation threatens job security and demands new skillsets.
University officials praised the lecture as timely and essential for Nigeria’s digital future.
