Millions Lost as Fire Guts Deeper Life Campus Hall in Ibadan — Gas Leak Blamed

A fire outbreak on Sunday night destroyed properties worth millions of naira at the Deeper Life campus ground, Sogunro, located along the Ibadan/Oyo Expressway in Oyo State.

According to reports, the inferno consumed a large campus hall being used as a store and kitchen, causing extensive damage before it was brought under control by firefighters.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Monday, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, said investigations revealed that the blaze was caused by a gas leakage in the kitchen area.

“Upon arrival, our officers found a campus hall used as a store and kitchen engulfed by flames. They acted swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings,” Akinwande said.

He added that no lives were lost during the incident, thanks to the quick intervention of the Oyo State Fire Service.

“The fire was successfully extinguished, and our officers also delivered a fire prevention lecture on-site to educate staff and residents,” he added.

Akinwande disclosed that senior fire officials, including ACFO Operations Engr. Olaojo, were at the scene, alongside policemen from the Moniya Division, who provided security coverage throughout the operation.

He urged residents and institutions to always ensure proper handling of gas cylinders and compliance with fire safety regulations to prevent future disasters.
