MAUTECH Prohibits Graduating Students’ ‘Sign-Out’ Celebrations

The management of Modibbo Adama University, Yola (MAUTECH), has officially banned the popular “sign-out” celebrations often held by graduating students on campus.

According to the university, the practice—which typically resembles carnival-like events—has been observed in recent weeks and is deemed unacceptable, as it violates school rules and regulations.

The statement emphasized that sign-out celebrations are also prohibited in other educational institutions by both federal and state governments, asserting that MAUTECH cannot be an exception.

Management warned that any student caught organizing or participating in such activities would do so “at his or her own peril.” It reminded students that university degrees are awarded based not only on academic performance but also on good character, which the sign-out culture does not reflect.

The directive further revealed that the University Security Office and the Department of State Services (DSS) have been informed of the ban to ensure strict compliance.
