Former First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Maryam Sani Abacha, has been conferred with the prestigious title of “Nigeria’s Most Notable Female Advocate” by the Peace Ambassadors Advocacy Network (PAAN) in recognition of her lifelong commitment to philanthropy, peace-building, women’s empowerment, and humanitarian service.
The honour was presented during a colourful ceremony in Abuja, attended by diplomats, traditional rulers, government officials, and civil society leaders who gathered to celebrate Nigerians contributing to peace and development.
Speaking at the event, PAAN’s President and Founder, Ambassador Onuche Kingsley I., praised Mrs. Abacha for her consistent efforts in promoting national unity and social progress.
“Mrs. Abacha has shown an extraordinary legacy of compassion and leadership. This recognition reflects her role as a mother of the nation, whose impact continues to inspire generations,” he said.
Throughout her public life, Mrs. Abacha has remained a symbol of hope and resilience, using her influence to support underprivileged communities and champion women’s participation in nation-building.
According to PAAN, the award is not only a recognition of her past achievements but also an encouragement for her continued advocacy, aligning with the organisation’s mission of promoting peace, unity, and humanitarian values across Nigeria and Africa.
